Yesterday, I mentioned that Penguins coach Dan Bylsma was to comment on the reports that Sidney Crosby wasn’t ready for the season. Well, it wasn’t Disco Dan but Pens GM Ray Shero who reassured fans that even though he’s had some setbacks, Sid will be in camp come September.
It’s just as I suspected: he’s pushed himself too hard over the summer with his training and has had some recurring symptoms, but he’s still working out and will report back in the ‘Burgh the week before camp begins. The biggest hurdle, though, will be getting cleared for contact because he hasn’t been yet – he needs that if he’s going to participate in camp. Sid’s coming back to town a week before camp starts on September 16th, so he’ll be evaluated then.
This is good news – at least he’s still training, and he really wants to play. Cross your fingers that he’ll get the green light to play again.
