We’ve had the Stastny brothers, we’re scared of the Sedins, you’ve got Anthony and Chris Stewart and of course the Staal brothers. What’s one more brotherly set in the NHL, right?
What’s that? You’ve heard that last name before? That would be because his big brother Jonathan is the Blackhawks’ captain.
The Blackhawks got David from the New York Islanders on September 9 in exchage for future considerations (I have no idea what that means). He’s basically followed the same path as his brother, attending Shattuck-St. Mary’s for prep school as well as the University of North Dakota. But unlike Jonathan, David left UND after two years to play for the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings, where he had 48 points (20 goals, 28 assists) in 60 games this past season. After the Hawks added him, he headed to Oshawa, Ontario for the NHL’s rookie tournament. From what I’ve been told, he’s been doing fairly well.
My one question is: what will they do about the jerseys? Will it be J. Toews and D. Toews? Will they make some sort of distinction because Jonathan is captain? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
