Edmonton Oilers at Chicago Blackhawks
November 13, 2011
Goals: Jonathan Toews x2 (Chicago), Steve Montador x2 (Chicago), Ryan Smyth (Edmonton), Jordan Eberle (Edmonton), Duncan Keith (Chicago), Shawn Horcoff (Edmonton), Daniel Carcillo (Chicago)
Goalies: Corey Crawford (.870), Nikolai Khabibulin (.853)
I intentionally avoided writing gamers for the last two games because they were rather easy wins against Columbus and Calgary. This game was bound to be good, and it was.
Steve Montador and Jonathan Toews both got two goals, but Monty scored one of his on the power play…no, I’m not kidding. Our power play is getting better after being dead stupid last in the league following the awful game we had in St. Louis on the 8th. We’ve actually scored on the PP in the last three games! Sorry if you fainted when you read that.
After taking a puck to the mouth on Thursday and having oral surgery on Saturday to fix a broken bottom tooth, Daniel Carcillo scored the ENG with an assist from Patrick Kane. Word is that Kaner did that as thanks for Carbomb coming to his defense after getting run over during the Blues game on Tuesday. Awwww!
Brent Seabrook went down in a heap behind the Oilers’ net, left the ice and didn’t come back. Word from Coach Q is that it’s a lower-body injury, so who knows what happened. We won’t know till Monday what’s wrong or if he’ll travel with the team for their road trip.
Speaking of the road trip, Dave Bolland didn’t play today but will be going on the circus trip with the team. This is a good sign, because he’s been out for a bit and he’s our starting center.
Edmonton’s coach became the anti-Claude Noel* (Winnipeg’s coach) by NOT pulling Nikolai Khabibulin when we started scoring on their net. Our friend Nicole was calling for him to go, and even I felt bad for Khabby.

I really don’t want a repeat of the 6th. ‘Nuff said.
*Claude Noel infuriated me on October 22nd by pulling Ondrej Pavelec after two goals got past him in the first six minutes of their game against Carolina. He and backup goalie Chris Mason claimed it was to boost team morale. I’d like to boost my foot up both their behinds. It’s no wonder why I want Ondrej out of there.
