Blackhawks-Sharks Game 1 wrapup

Chicago Blackhawks at San Jose Sharks

1-0, Sharks

Goals: Jason Demers (San Jose)

Goalies: Corey Crawford (.952), Antti Niemi (1.000)

The Good:

We did eveything right in this game – okay, except for scoring. But we did everything else that we were supposed to do. This was a vast improvement on the last two games.

We’re still on top of the Central Division, but third in the Western Conference. Not sure if this is good or bad.

"Squishy is mine! Do not touch my Squishy!"

I can’t say enough about my goalie. Corey Crawford was wonderful, and that goal was the result of a bouncy puck that confuddled him. Not his fault, people.

I have no reason to include this picture other than it just looks cool.

The Bad:

Like I said, we didn’t score. See below as to why.

The Ugly:

We could've had it all with you still in our crease.

Who thought it was an awesome idea to let Antti Niemi go? The boy was in Playoffs 2010 Mode last night. He blocked 34 shots and made me cringe while I sat here. He admitted after the game that when he’d see certain Hawks coming to shoot, he anticipated what they’d do and knew how to stop them. Ugh. Bright idea to drop him.

Next Game:

at Anaheim Ducks

November 25

WGN (Chicago area only)/Center Ice

This is a matinee game for West Coasters, while it’s a late afternoon game for us here in the East (1 p.m. Pacific/3 p.m. Chicago/4 p.m. Eastern). Now that our game’s on the upswing, let’s win this and Saturday’s game and go home with a split.
