Blackhawks-Penguins wrapup

Chicago Blackhawks at Pittsburgh Penguins

3-2, Penguins

Goals: Chris Kunitz, James Neal and Tyler Kennedy (Pittsburgh), Jonathan Toews and Viktor Stalberg (Chicago)

Goalies: Ray Emery (.893), Marc-Andre Fleury (.947)

The Good

It was good to see Brent Seabrook back in the lineup after the nasty hit he took on Sunday. He said it was just a scare, that he was conscious the entire time. Also good to know that Rene Bourque apologized as well.

John Scott came to the aid of his teammate Marcus Kruger after a nasty hit (I’ll talk about that shortly). For coming to Freddy’s (our nickname for Kruger) defense, he got two minutes for instigating, five minutes for fighting and a 10-minute misconduct. But he was doing the right thing, according to Coach and everyone commenting on the game. Good for Scotty.

The Bad

A moment of silence for the fact that I couldn’t physically be at the game…okay then, moving on.

A hockey game is 60 minutes long. The boys were in it for only the last 20 minutes. I was just aghast at our sheer laziness in our own zone. And sooooo many little penalties, including two from Patrick Kane for hooking (yes, I yelled at him for it). Remember what the Canucks did the first time we played them this year? We kept getting nicked, and they scored on almost every power play. That didn’t happen this time, but stop racking up the unnecessary PIM!

The Ugly

Hey, Pens fans: Marian Hossa left your team in 2008. Get over it and stop booing him every time he touches the puck, mmkay?

Deryk Engelland broke my baby Swede (Kruger).  After Freddy was backchecked by Pascal Dupuis, Engelland left his feet and nailed him in the head with a forearm. NOT COOL. That triggered Scotty to go after Engelland. As I said before, Scotty had the right to do that – if you don’t stick up for your teammate, who will?

DON'T. TOUCH. MY TEAMMATE.

Next Game

vs. Montreal Canadiens

December 22

CSN-Chicago

This will be the first time the team plays against the Habs’ new (and scandalously uniligual) coach. Will the Blackhawks who speak French chirp their opponents? I kinda hope they do as they roll over Les Canadiens.
