Ah, a return to the site where the magic happened on June 9, 2010. Did you know that at morning skate Patrick Kane found the spot where he did his little head fake then sank that Cup-winning goal? Yep, and he recreated that move…right down to sinking the shot again.
We called two more guys from Rockford – Dylan Olsen and Andrew Shaw. And right off the bat, Shaw got his first goal with his first SOG! Then he got into his first fight with Zac Rinaldo and got 10 stitches above his eye. Too bad he didn’t get an assist for the Gordie Howe hatty.
Jimmy Hayes was on our fourth line and not only got his second goal in two games, but he was a major pain in Ilya Bryzgalov’s behind with all his screening. I think he’ll be sticking around a bit longer. I’m sure some are complaining “Blah blah blah, the top two lines are full of fail so you bring in the youngins.” Whatever.
Kaner FINALLY scored another goal. People are mumbling about his play, and I hated that he was stuck back on wing to bump up his game. Maybe it was to let him focus on getting the puck, but it didn’t help. It’s like he didn’t click with Jonathan Toews like he had before. Maybe now that he’s back with Marian Hossa, and especially with that goal, he’ll find his mojo again.
Daniel Carcillo is out on two fronts: he’s suspended for seven games for the hit he gave Tom Gilbert on Monday (the suspension started with this game), and he may need surgery on his knee. What’s worse is that our baby Swede Marcus Kruger suffered a setback in his concussion recovery on Tuesday and Steve Montador has an upper-body injury; both are on Injured Reserve.
OUR DEFENSE. I just…ugh. It wasn’t there.
Patrick Timothy, come here, sit. We need to talk about playing center. I know you’ve been put back there, but come on, you did so well before! Sweetie, work on your backchecking, please. Why are you so hesitant to do that? Ugh.
vs. Colorado Avalanche
The last time they were here, they beat us in a shootout. This can’t happen again, guys.
