Minnesota Wild at Chicago Blackhawks
Goals: Devin Setoguchi (Minnesota), Andrew Shaw, Jimmy Hayes, Viktor Stalberg and Dave Bolland x 2 (Chicago), Kyle Brodziak (Minnesota)
Goalies: Ray Emery (21/23, .913), Josh Harding (17/21, .810), Matt Hackett (8/8, 1.000)
First off, happy 33rd birthday to Marian Hossa! Sorry that Josh Harding robbed you of a birthday goal.
Dave Bolland had two goals and an assist, and for that he was named first star of the game. He doesn’t like to be called Rat; he prefers Greyhound.
Hi, Claude Noel? I’d like to show you something. This is Ray Emery. He is our other goaltender. Please do not call him a backup, because he’s just as good as Corey Crawford. Here in Chicago, we rotate our goalies so they’re fresh and not overworked. You might want to take note of that.
Was that Viktor Stalberg scoring the GWG? Why yes, it was (Bolly’s second was an empty-netter, so it only gilded the lily). That makes a career-high 13 goals so far this season!
How they sparkle and shine: Jimmy Hayes and Andrew Shaw are proving themselves worthy of being in the Indian Head sweater. Each had a goal tonight, and Hayes had an assist and at least seven hits for the night. Sadly, with Marcus Kruger projected to come back this weekend and Patrick Sharp out till around mid-February, these boys are only here for a limited time. But if anyone’s going to stay on long-term (and I know at least one will because of Daniel Carcillo’s injury), I think it’ll be Hayes.
Honestly, this was a beautiful game. Two power play goals, stepped-up defense, younglings doing well…it feels good, man.
If there was anything bad in this game, it was that there were some little things that should’ve been called and weren’t, like an alleged high stick to Patrick Kane’s face. No matter, though, we held ourselves to one penalty.
The only ugly thing about this night was the first rendering of the Coach Q bobblehead they gave to the first 10,000 fans in United Center. Coach said it made him look like Uncle Fester, so they went back to the drawing board.

Special matinee game! Let’s see if we can’t get the upper hand on this series, yeah?
