Chicago Blackhawks at Nashville Predators
Goals: Marian Hossa x2 (Chicago), Craig Smith, Kevin Klein, Colin Wilson, Sergei Kostitsyn and Patric Hornqvist, all Nashville
Goalies: Corey Crawford (13/17, .765) and Ray Emery (5/6, .833), Pekka Rinne (20/22, .909)
Um, Marian Hossa got two goals tonight, bringing his total for the season so far to 20. At least he tried.
Toewsbot became damaged during competition and required inspection by maintenance staff. After said inspection, results were inconclusive and the unit will require further diagnostics upon returning to Chicago. In other words, Jonathan Toews suffered an upper-body injury that Coach Q deemed day-to-day and will be evaluated Sunday. Like we need more injuries.
Stupid fluke goal from the red line by Kevin Klein bounced off the ice and over Crow’s shoulder. What even.
We got a hat trick of sorts – three different shots went pinging off the post. That’s not the kind of hatty I like, guys.
Corey Crawford was pulled after Sergei Kostitsyn’s goal. Yes, Ray Emery let one slip past, but hey, he still made some good saves. And no need for the “Let’s trade Crawford!” talk after one bad game – weren’t you the same yappy people who screamed about Razor replacing Crow for six games? Y’all make no sense.
The Preds brought a physical game, and the boys couldn’t handle it. I’m going to totally blame this on the fact that a) they left Chicago quite late because of the snow; b) they arrived in Nashville quite late because of a thunderstorm there; c) no morning skate and d) the stupid whistles people were blowing in the crowd. I could hear them through the radio livestream, and they were really annoying.
I will say that I’m disappointed in the defense again. Nick Leddy and Duncan Keith were caught napping on Kostitsyn’s goal, and yes, Crow should be held accountable for not keeping his eye on the puck and giving the Preds a wide open net. Inattentiveness leads to scores like the one in this game.
The Nashville crowd chanted “Crawford! Crawford! Crawford! You suck!” after the first four Preds goals. Real classy, like they don’t do that at high school and college games. I hope you swallow your stupid whistles. Oh, and change your goal song, I can’t stand hearing Tim McGraw.
