Chicago Blackhawks at Edmonton Oilers
Goals: Jamal Mayers and Patrick Sharp x2 (Chicago), Taylor Hall, Sam Gagner x4, Ryan Whitney and Cam Barker (Edmonton), David Bolland, (Chicago), Jordan Eberle (Edmonton)
Goalies: Corey Crawford (23/28, .821), Ray Emery (10/13, .769), Devan Dubnyk (43/47, .915)
This is going to be as short as Emma’s. She says that the Oilers are our Hurricanes – they stink but still manage to whip out butts. For some reason, we can’t seem to beat them in their own barn. We were doing so well, ahead in the first and tied in the second, but things just went to crap after that.
I DO NOT want to hear people calling for Corey Crawford to be traded. He’s had a bad night or two before, remember? But he rested and got his head back in the game and came back strong. Let’s give Ray Emery a chance in net again and let Corey get back to being the great goalie that he is. But it’s not all on the goalie, though. A lacking defense can’t screen properly and lets those goals in just as much as the goalie does. They need to stop worrying about scoring and concern themselves with stopping the puck in their zone.
I think Jonathan Toews summed up the night correctly: “We let them do whatever they wanted, tap-ins left and right, we hung our goaltenders out to dry.”
The only good thing in this game was Sam Gagner scoring eight points tonight, tying a franchise single-game record with the great Wayne Gretzky and netting a hatty in the process. The last time an 8-point game happened was in 1988 with Mario Lemieux. Now that’s something to cheer about.

I’d like to see us get .500 out of this third of the road trip. Can we please get it together?
