Blackhawks-Red Wings Game 3 wrapup

Detroit Red Wings at Chicago Blackhawks

2-1, Blackhawks

Goals: Valtteri Filppula (Detroit), Jimmy Hayes and Marcus Kruger (Chicago)

Goalies: Corey Crawford (31/32, .969); Jimmy Howard (27/29, .931)

The Good

I would like to thank the Blackhawks for giving me the second best present I got for my birthday (the best was Patrick Kane’s “rookie card”, which I will show soon in a separate post).

Dave Bolland took a puck to the face in the first period, but he didn’t miss much time when he went to get stitched up. He was back on the ice menacing the Red Wings in no time.

He proves that rats are tough little buggers.

Jimmy Hayes was on fire tonight, getting the tying goal and an assist on Marcus Kruger‘s tip-in in the third period. I always wish for the Gordie Howe hatty when that happens. By the way, Krugs’ goal was his first career game winner.

Rookie hugs!

Hi, haters. Look at Corey Crawford‘s game stats. Now look at yourself in the mirror and convince yourselves that he still deserves to be traded.

Fools, you cannot take the Crawfishy from the Madhouse *evil laugh*.

The Bad

Toewsbot Unit 19-C was not in use for this game (Jonathan Toews was out with an upper-body injury). Pavel Datsyuk was also absent due to knee surgery. Kinda evened things up in my mind.

I wish Jimmy Howard had some rust on him after sitting out eight games because of a broken finger. He robbed Patrick Sharp of a goal TWICE and frustrated Patrick Kane.

"Just. Let me. Put in. The puck!"

The Ugly

The only ugly thing I know of was Todd Bertuzzi falling on Corey toward the end of the second period, and then Corey had a time getting to the bench for intermission. He later said that a puck hit him in the side and made his leg go numb, but he was able to finish out the game. Still don’t like Betuzzi squishing my goalie and not getting nicked for interference.

Next Game

vs. Dallas Stars

February 23

With trade rumors swirling, will this be the last time we see these two teams as they are?
