Blackhawks-Ducks Game 4 wrapup

Chicago Blackhawks at Anaheim Ducks

3-1, Ducks

Goals: Patrick Kane (Chicago), Andrew Cogliano, Sheldon Brookbank and Teemu Selanne (Anaheim)

Goalies: Ray Emery (35/38, .921) ; Jonas Hiller (18/19, .947)

The Good

Hey, we finally got a power play goal! The honor of snapping the 0-39 streak goes to Patrick Kane, who sent a wrister past Jonas Hiller (here it is in all its beauty).

"Peeks! You scored on the power play! Now teach us how to do that!"

You don’t step on Superman’s  (or SuperKane’s) cape, you don’t spit into the wind, you don’t pull the mask off the ol’ Lone Ranger and you don’t mess around with Ray Emery. When Niklas Hagman poked at the puck a little too much, Razor took exception to that and retaliated. That got him a minor for roughing and a slashing minor for Hagman.

The Bad

After Kaner’s goal, we went right back to screwing up the power play. Great.

We were outshot in this game. AGAIN. Same SOG total as yesterday. What even.

The team was sluggish for the entire game, save for that one little burst from Kaner. I think we’re really missing the leadership of Toewsbot 19-C (aka Jonathan Toews). Coach Q is being evasive when he talks about when he’ll come back, and he isn’t even skating yet. Come back, Cylon hockey player!

The Ugly

Our power play. No, seriously. Stan Bowman needs a strong PP player on the team, not to mention a defenseman to light a flipping fire under the guys and show them how to screen the goalie.

Next Game

vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

February 29

The Leafs have been hot and cold lately. I’d like to see us catch them on a cold day, please and thank you.
