Bruins game 59 wrapup

Boston Bruins at Buffalo Sabres

2-1, Sabres (SO)

Goals: Andrej Sekera (Buffalo), Zdeno Chara (Boston), plus Thomas Vanek and Derek Roy (Buffalo) and David Krejci (Boston) in the shootout

Goalies: Ryan Miller (35/36, .972% plus a save and two misses in the shootout), Tuukka Rask (26/27, .963% plus two saves in the shootout)

Writeups: Yahoo and Rant

The Good:

Unlike the last time Tuukka Rask played in Buffalo, he stayed in the game for the entire time! He was pretty sharp, too.

At one point in overtime, when Rask was out of his net and Buffalo could very well have won the game, Zdeno Chara played goaltender again and helped keep the puck out. That marks at least three times I’ve seen Big Z play netminder.

Jack Edwards called it best: “The Chamber of Commerce booing Brad Marchand.” That followed Marchand calling Buffalo boring and expressing his displeasure for the weather when they play there. OK, I’ve been to Buffalo–just to get through there to Niagara Falls–and it was a while ago, so I don’t remember much except that we got lost. In summary, I can kind of see where Marchand is coming from. I do wish he could’ve scored, though, just to really make the First Niagara crowd hush.

Maybe he's slightly disgusted at having to be on their ice?

Also, at least the team got a point from this excursion, unlike their last time playing Buffalo.

The Bad:

There were some connection issues between not only the Bruins, who seemed less than adept at making their passes connect, but also my internet–it was out for all of the first period and at first AT&T’s estimation for its return was 24 hours later! Thankfully, it came back for the second and stayed. The team’s passing issues seemed to get a little better, too.

The Ugly:

A lackluster performance on the power play led to Boston killing the penalty, but being scored on not too long after that.

Things where I am not sure if they are good, bad or ugly yet:

The fact that we have two more games against these guys, including the home season closer.

Next Game:

at Ottawa Senators

I know these gamers are a little delayed, so I won’t ‘predict’ here since it already happened and oh, it was good.
