Man of the Day 3/10: Eric Tangradi

Eric Tangradi

Born in February 10, 1989 (age 23) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Left winger for the Pittsburgh Penguins

Here’s a guy who’s worked both ends of the state of Pennsylvania. Eric went to school at Wyoming Seminary in northeastern part of  the state before playing with the OHL’s Belleville Bulls, where he played three seasons. The Anaheim Ducks had drafted him in 2007,  but they traded Chris Kunitz and him in February 2009 to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Ryan Whitney; when he was ready to hit the pros, he went to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, aka the Baby Pens.

Craig Adams is probably asking Eric how his eye looks.

Eric didn’t make his NHL debut till the last game of the 2009-10 season against the New York Islanders. It was also during a game with the Islanders in February 2011 that he caught an elbow to the head from Trevor Gilles – Gilles was suspended for 9 games for that, and Eric had to sit out quite a few games because of concussion symptoms. He’s been bouncing between the Baby Pens and Big Pens for the past three seasons, but right now he’s on the Big Pens roster. He doesn’t have a goal yet this season, but he may just get lucky!

Om nom nom.
